Absolutely fantastic service. The team transformed our lawn in no time at all, and the edging was completed with incredible precision. The attention to detail exceeded our expectations, and the finished result looks outstanding.
Braemar has been a stopping place on the old highway since the Prince Albert Inn opened in 1846 — Fox Mowing NSW keeps its lawns cut, edged and clear of leaves at nearly 600 m.
Braemar grew up along the Old Hume Highway, and the village strip still sets its character — the Prince Albert Inn has stood there since 1846, the model railway shop trades a few doors along, and the deciduous trees on the strip drop a serious leaf load every autumn. At close to 600 m, winter frosts come frequently, growth slows right down, and a lawn that needed cutting every fortnight in November can sit untouched through July.
Underfoot it’s the shale and sandstone-derived clay loam typical of this part of the Highlands. The heavier clay pockets hold moisture but compact easily, which is why buffalo and tall fescue lawns tend to do best here. Braemar (2575) is growing quickly too, with the population more than doubling between the 2016 and 2021 censuses, so plenty of our work is setting up new households with a mowing schedule that suits the climate from day one.

Regular cuts through the warm months with heights set for buffalo and fescue, easing back as the frosts take over.
The exotic trees along the Old Hume Highway strip drop heavily — we clear lawns before the leaf mat smothers them.
Fence lines, wall edges and tight corners brought up to the same standard as the open lawn.
Blocks that ran wild over a tenancy change or a busy spring, brought back with staged cuts and a proper clean-up.
Ride-on mowing for the larger yards behind the village strip — genuine acreage is scarcer here than in the villages further north, but big lawns aren’t.
Reliable, inspection-ready mowing for rentals and business frontages around the village, done on a set schedule.
A Braemar garden runs on the Highlands clock: dormant and frost-bitten through winter, then everything at once from October. We handle hedges, pruning, weeding, bed clean ups, mulching and green waste removal from $70 a visit — each job timed to that calendar rather than a generic one.
On this clay loam, compaction is the quiet enemy. Garden beds walked on while wet set hard and shed water, so we work beds from the edges, mulch to protect the surface, and prune the deciduous trees while they’re bare so spring growth goes where you want it. Lawn and garden in one booking, one operator.

Winter here is genuinely cold — frequent frosts, short days and grass that barely moves. Spring flips the switch, and from October to Christmas the growth is relentless. Summer at this elevation is kinder than down in the valley towns, and autumn is the leaf season, when clearing matters as much as cutting.
From Braemar our operators also run next door to Aylmerton, Colo Vale, Willow Vale and Balaclava, and right across the wider Tahmoor territory. Wherever you sit on that map, the same local crew covers it.
Absolutely fantastic service. The team transformed our lawn in no time at all, and the edging was completed with incredible precision. The attention to detail exceeded our expectations, and the finished result looks outstanding.
The team arrived exactly when scheduled and took great care while trimming our hedges. Their workmanship was excellent, and they left the property spotless after completing the job. We would gladly recommend their services to others.
A truly professional gardening service. We needed a large amount of garden waste removed along with a general tidy-up of the yard. The team worked efficiently, completed everything quickly, and left the area looking neat and refreshed.
We have used several gardening and lawn care companies over the years, and Fox Mowing stands out as one of the best. Their service is reliable, professional, and consistently delivered to a high standard. We regularly recommend them to family and friends.
If you want a lawn that looks healthy, neat, and professionally maintained, these are the people to call. The difference they made to our property was impressive, and we couldn't be happier with the result.
We had been battling persistent weeds for months and tried numerous products from local hardware stores without success. After Fox Mowing treated the problem areas, the results were noticeable almost immediately. Our weed issue is finally under control, and the garden looks much better.
Braemar mowing starts from $50 for a small, well-kept lawn. Expect $70–$150+ for medium to large yards with edging and blow-down, from $70 for a basic gardening visit, $100–$250+ for overgrown recovery, and an on-site quote for ride-on or slashing work.
We treat leaf clearing as part of the job, not a chore left to you. Leaves are cleared from the lawn before or during the mow so they don't mat down and smother the grass heading into the frosty months, and the lot can be carted away with the green waste.
Buffalo and tall fescue do best here. The shale-derived clay loam holds moisture but compacts easily, and both grasses tolerate that combination along with the cold — fescue in particular keeps some colour through a Braemar winter after the warm-season grasses have browned off.
Straight away in spring or summer, and with a tidy-up cut at any other time of year. Braemar has grown fast since 2016, and most new households settle on fortnightly cuts through the warm months, dropping to monthly or on-call once the frosts slow everything down.
Yes — the rural-residential yards around Braemar are ride-on territory and we bring the gear to match. Broadacre slashing is less common here than in the villages further north, but where it's needed we quote it on site.
